BATON ROUGE- The Louisiana National Guard is hosting a deployment ceremony for the 239th Military Police Company which is headed to Iraq for a year.
The Carville-based unit, made up of about 115 soldiers, will train Iraqi police in support of Operation New Dawn.
They will conduct mobilization training in Fort Bliss, Texas for a month before deploying overseas.
News 2's Michael Shingleton is at the ceremony and will have more on the deployment starting at News 2 at 4:00.
