La. National Guard employees furloughed
CARVILLE- Half of the state's full-time National Guard employees are being furloughed.
It is related to the national government sequestration.
Employees, including guardsmen, could get a 20% reduction in their pay because of the unpaid days off. It started in July and continues until September.
Leadership at the Louisiana National Guard told WBRZ News 2, there is no reason to be concerned. Since the furloughs are happening during hurricane season, leadership said there are enough guardsmen to respond if there is a storm.
