La. man arrested on health care fraud charge
A New Orleans man has been arrested for allegedly using his dead brother's identity to fraudulently obtain Medicaid benefits.
Federal prosecutors said 58-year-old Lionel Perkins used his brother's identity to seek reimbursement for goods, services and care, including from pharmacies in Baton Rouge and Jefferson.
He already faced charges of defrauding the federal government out of more than $300,000 in Hurricane Katrina-related funds.
Perkins faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if he is convicted of the new charge.
