La-Lafayette football assistant leaves program
LAFAYETTE- David Saunders has left his post as an assistant coach with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette football team.
According to a statement released by the university Monday, "Saunders is no longer associated with the . football program due to personal reasons."
The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1EdI5Jl ) former Texas Tech defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt will take over Saunders' duties for the duration of the season. Saunders was working as outside linebackers coach and assistant recruiting coordinator.
Louisiana-Lafayette, 5-3 overall, is coming off a 19-9 home win over South Alabama last week and takes a four-game winning streak to New Mexico State this Saturday night.
