WATSON - A Louisiana National Guard helicopter is en route to Watson where an emergency flooding situation is unfolding.

With the Amite River level rising fast, several hundred residents along Bend Road in the Watson area must be evacuated immediately.

LPSO deputies are in the area helping residents move to dry ground, but residents who have yet to get out are urged to meet deputies at 35980 Bend Road.

Livingston Parish officials will provide updates at 9 a.m. Saturday.

In a call with News 2, Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks said rooftop rescues were being carried out in Livingston Parish throughout the morning.
