Louisiana and Mississippi will get nearly $2.2 million to enroll uninsured children who
qualify for health care coverage.

The grants are among $40 million awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service. The aim is to get eligible children into Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program.

The Louisiana State Department of Health and Hospitals got $955,681, and the TECHE Action Board $234,808. The awards are for a two-year period.
