LAFAYETTE- The family of a missing 19-year-old crew member aboard a yacht that vanished in June is asking authorities to resume the search for the Nina after satellite images may show the boat is floating somewhere between Australia and Norfolk Island.
"We have never lost hope that the crew of Nina is alive and well and that they will be rescued, but seeing that boat image is very exciting," said Robin Wright the mother of Danielle Wright. The family is from Louisiana.
Wright is one of six Americans and a man from Britain on board the vessel. It sailed from New Zealand in late May and communication was lost in June.
There is no confirmation that the images are of the Nina, a news website in New Zealand reported late Monday (Tuesday morning in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean).
Rescue officials said they want better-quality images to move forward with another search.
