Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell is set to receive $5 million from the block grant aid given to the state from BP in response to the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. In total, BP gave Louisiana $25 million for cleanup and response efforts.
Monday, Governor Bobby Jindal announced he would give a portion of that money to the Attorney General's office. Caldwell asked state lawmakers for $27 million, saying he needs to hire lawyers and experts about the spill.
Caldwell has not said who he will sue, or when he will file a lawsuit.
