PORT ALLEN - Drivers on La. 1 may soon see an unusual sight: workers handing out survey cards to stopped vehicles.
It's to find out how many drivers will use a proposed toll road connecting La. 415 to La. 1. Parish President Riley "Pee Wee" Bertholot says it will help ease traffic on the Port Allen Bridge.
Starting next month workers will start handing out cards with the web address for the survey. Responses from the survey will help the parish find out how much toll money the bridge will generate in order to finance the project.
Ben Gex travels in the area often. He says, "It won't be bad. If it relives traffic it will make up for it on gas."
Workers will only hand out the cards for one day. The parish will not release the exact date.
