Knockout game becomes hate crime
HOUSTON, TEXAS- A white man accused of cold-cocking an elderly black man was indicted by a federal grand jury on a hate crime charge for an attack known as the "knockout game".
Twenty-seven year-old Conrad Barrett is accused of slugging a 79-year-old man who had his jaw broken in two places.
Investigators say Barrett recorded the attack on his phone and is heard laughing and shouting "knockout" as the man fell to the ground.
Barrett's lawyer says his client has a bipolar disorder and was off his medication when the attack happened.
