BATON ROUGE – The Knock Knock Children's Museum announced its doors will open on Tuesday, August 22.

The announcement comes after more than a decade of work from volunteers and advocates for early education, a partnership with The Recreation and Parks Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge and the support from the community, officials say.

The museum is location in City Brooks Community Park on Dalrymple Drive in Baton Rouge. Officials say the museum will be a destination for learning through play, discovery and hands-on exploration for young children up to eight years old.

It features 18 Learning Zones and one of them includes a 42-foot high Storybook Climber, designed by Spencer Luckey. Each of the learning zones creates interactive and fun "teachable moments" for parents and their children.

"It is an honor to serve the families and children of the nine-parish Capital Region and beyond. We look forward to welcoming everyone starting August 22, and we can't wait to see children's expressions as they take in their children's museum for the first time," Peter Olson, Executive Director of Knock Knock Children's Museum, said.

Knock Knock is still working to close the gap on its $14 million Capital Campaign goal, officials say. It is anticipated that the annual operating budget of the museum will be $2 million, according to officials.

General admission tickets will cost $14 for ages one and older. Family membership packages start at $150. Families who are members of the museum receive unlimited admission for a year.
