Knives found at Lafayette elementary school
LAFAYETTE- Lafayette police confiscated two pocketknives from two different students at Alice Boucher Elementary School.
Cpl. Paul Mouton tells The Advertiser both of the students were younger than 11.
Mouton says their investigation began Tuesday during a fight on the school's playground, after which a student informed school administrators that another student had talked about bringing a knife to school Wednesday.
Mouton says officers went to the school Wednesday at the request of the principal and secured the fourth- and fifth-grade wing to conduct a thorough search. He says that is when the knives were found.
Mouton described the knives as pocketknives, each of which had about a 2-inch blade.
He says the students were not arrested, and that the school was disciplinary matters.
