MONROE- The man some have dubbed the "Kissing Congressman" won't ask the feds to investigate how surveillance video of him, kissing a woman who wasn't his wife, was able to be leaked to the news media and posted on the Internet.

The video surfaced Monday, and quickly went viral. It was recorded in December, just before Christmas.

Tuesday, Rep. Vance McAllister, a Christian-values candidate, said he'd ask the FBI and the Justice Department to get involved. Then, Wednesday, decided against that. His office most recently said he is "focused on earning back the trust of those he has disappointed," rather than an investigation.

Just after the video was released, McAllister asked for forgiveness and privacy.  He does not plan to resign, despite reports that the head of the state's Republican Party is trying to ask him to leave Congress.

He is not expected back in Washington, D.C. anytime soon.  His staff said he is spending time with his family.
