Child left on school bus for 2 hours
BATON ROUGE - East Baton Rouge Parish Schools are investigating an incident which left a 5-year-old boy locked on a bus by himself.
Demondre Morgan took the bus home from school Thursday, but when his mom went to meet him at the bus stop he never showed up.
"That was the worst two hours of my life," Shunquita Morgan said today. "Usually, she'll drop him off at 4 p.m."
The kindergartner fell asleep on the bus for two hours. When he woke up, he was all alone.
"It was hot in there," Demondre told News 2.
Two women walking by heard Demondre crying and screaming for his mom, and pulled him through the school bus window.
"Anything could have happened to him," said Shunquita. "He told me he never wants to ride a bus again."
Morgan says this was no accident and could have been prevented.
A school district spokesperson said the incident was under investigation, but did not say if the driver was still working or had been disciplined.
