Kentwood Police Chief arrested in missing evidence investigation
Tangipahoa Parish- The Chief of Police in Kentwood is in trouble with the law himself.
Chief Gregory Newton turned himself in to LSP Detectives, following an investigation into missing evidence.
The investigation started in December when State Police received a citizen complaint saying $2000 had been misappropriated by the Kentwood Police Department.
The money had been submitted as evidence from a home burglary investigation.
Newton is booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, charged with one count each of Malfeasance in Office and Obstruction of Justice.
He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
