Workers at a Louisiana food and drink manufacturer got more than $46,000 in overtime and back wages after a lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Labor.
An investigation found that Kiko Foods Inc. was in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act for failing to pay production employees their wages for work performed from Jan. 31 to Feb. 20.
The department says Kiko Foods agreed to resolve the violations after the court issued an order prohibiting shipments of goods made by the affected employees until the back wages were paid in full.
Kiko Foods, owned by Southern Sales Systems in Kenner, manufactures and produces purified water, beverages and drink mixes.
