Kenner- A 19 year old Kenner man seriously injured himself while manufacturing a sparkler bomb with fireworks.

Responding officers found the victim to have sustained injuries to his hands, arms, and legs.

Investigators say the victim along with several friends were outside shooting fireworks, when made a "sparkler bomb" (several sparklers tightly packed and wrapped in duct tape with another usually used as a "fuse" to provide a delay between lighting and the explosion).

They say just before the sparkler bomb exploded, the victim attempted to remove the fusing assembly, however the device exploded in his hands.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was taken into surgery and currently listed in guarded condition.

The force of the explosion also damaged three nearby vehicles.
