Keeping the crazy ants from driving you mad
BATON ROUGE- The Tawny Crazy Ant is back for the summer, and there are some things the experts say you can do to prepare.
"You definitely want a professional treating for this ant," said Jacob Cohn of Arrow Pest Control.
The Environmental Protection Agency approved a remedy called Termidor. It's a chemical that's restricted to professional use only, but is claimed to get a handle on the Tawny Crazy ants.
But before you can get an exterminator out to spray for the tiny pests, a sample of your ant must be sent in to Dennis Ring at the Department of Entomology at LSU.
The Tawny Crazy Ants are expected to really make an imprint in late July and August.
If you think you've seen Crazy Ants at your house, contact the LSU AG Center. The number is 225-389-3056.
