WALKER, LA - Signing day is the dream of any kid growing up playing sports. The chance to take your game to the next level in athletics.

It's a wish a lot don't get to see come true. For Kacie Fountain, it was a dream that didn't seem real until July 2nd.

The journey to a scholarship offer from Murray State was more than just your cliche "hard work" and "determination." It was the will to never quit, even when it would've been justified.

Fountain suffered a torn meniscus in her right knee early in the season for the Wildcats, but after sitting a few games, decided to play through the pain. She helped Walker earn a two seed in the 5A playoffs, the highest in school history.

The Wildcats also made it all the way to the state championship, where Fountain would suffer another injury, this time to her ankle. She would have to be helped off the court by coaches, but somehow she returned to that game as well.

That resillance and grit, earning the eyes of the Racers to give her a chance to play division one basketball. That story for anyone else, would be considered unbelievable. For Fountain, it was hard work finally paying off.
