K-9 locates missing elderly man in Mandeville
MANDEVILLE- A K-9 who specializes in tracking down missing persons found a 93-year-old man lost in the woods Tuesday.
Deputies from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence in Mandeville around 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 28 after a man called to report his missing father, whom he had not seen in an hour.
Authorities arrived to the scene and set up a perimeter to begin searching the area, troopers say.
Freya, a K-9 tracking hound, was also called to the scene with her handler.
According to deputies, Freya promptly located the man deep in the woods on the 13-acre property. The man had apparently fallen and was unable to get back up.
He was transported to a local hospital by Mandeville Fire-Medics and was said to be in good condition.
