Juvenile inmate escapes during transport
NEW IBERIA - Iberia Parish sheriff's deputies are searching for a juvenile inmate who escaped as he was being transported within the city of New Iberia.
Sheriff Louis Ackal says the 17-year-old fled Tuesday from deputies as they were moving him from the St. James Juvenile Facility, where he was being held on charges of armed robbery.
Ackal says the inmate is about 5'11 and weighs about 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information on the teenager's whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 337-369-3711.
