Justice Clarence Thomas did something at a Supreme Court argument that he hasn't done in nearly 7 years- he spoke and it was to a lawyer from Louisiana. What Thomas said isn't clear, but it appears he was joking about Ivy League lawyers. The transcript quotes Thomas as saying, "Well, he did not..." and several justices laughed in response. Calcasieu Parish Assistant District Attorney Carla Sigler replied: "I would refute that, Justice Thomas." Thomas hasn't asked a question in court since Feb. 22, 2006. Two lawyers in the chamber confirm Thomas was joking about Ivy League lawyers. One said it was about Thomas' alma mater, Yale. The other lawyer said it was about Harvard.
