Jury selection continues in BP engineer trial
NEW ORLEANS- Jury selection is continuing in the case of a former BP engineer accused of obstruction of justice related to the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Justice Department has charged Kurt Mix with deleting text messages and voicemails in order to impede the investigation into BP's response to the spill.
Dozens of potential jurors are in the federal courtroom in New Orleans for a second day of questioning.
U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval Jr. questioned individual members of the jury pool for several hours yesterday.
After the jury is seated, lawyers for each side will deliver their opening statements. The trial is expected to last up to three weeks.
