Jury finds Morris guilty of 1990 rape, murder
GONZALES - Jurors found a Carville man guilty of kidnapping, rape and murder for the 1990 killing of an Ascension Parish woman.
Tolbert Morris, 56, was accused of abducting 18-year-old Tammy Bowers and raping her before killing her.
The jury returned guilty verdicts for the charges of second-degree murder, aggravated rape and second-degree kidnapping.
Prosecutors earlier decided they would not seek the death penalty against Morris.
