Judge rules against Hunter on NC sex tape evidence
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The federal judge overseeing the John Edwards criminal case is rejecting what she calls an "extremely broad" effort by his mistress to keep evidence out of the public eye.
Judge Catherine Eagles denied a bid by Rielle Hunter's attorneys to restrict what the public will be allowed to learn about a court battle over a sex tape showing Hunter and Edwards. It's not clear what Hunter's attorneys wanted because their motion hasn't been made part of the court's records.
Hunter sued former Edwards aide Andrew Young and his wife in 2010 over the tape of "a personal and private nature." The Youngs said she left it in the trash.
Young has been in the witness stand since the trial started Monday. Edwards has pleaded not guilty to campaign finance violations.
