THIBODAUX, La. - A state judge has ruled that 30-year-old Jeremiah Wright cannot understand the first-degree murder charge against him or help his defense.

Judge John LeBlanc based his ruling Tuesday on reports from two court-appointed psychiatrists.

He then put both reports under seal.

District Attorney Camille Morvant did not object. Neither he nor defense attorney Kerry Cuccia submitted any evidence or asked to question either psychiatrist.

Wright is accused of beheading his 7-year-old disabled son, Jori Lirette on Aug. 14.

The child's mother, 27-year-old Jesslyn Lirette wept quietly, sniffling after the ruling was announced.

Wright will now go to a state mental hospital for treatment.

Family members did not comment either on their way into or out of the courthouse.
