Jones plans to return LSU hoops to its glory days
Johnny Jones knows about all the good times of LSU basketball.
While Jones was a player, the Tigers advanced to the 1981 Final Four. As an assistant coach under Dale Brown, LSU reached the 1986 Final Four.
LSU has been on a roller-coaster ride since O'Neal left for the NBA in 1992. There have been Southeastern Conference championships, even a trip to the 2006 Final Four.
But, for most of the last 20 years, the Tigers have been a second-division team in the SEC. That's where LSU finished coach Trent Johnson's final three seasons. When Johnson took the TCU job last spring, Jones returned to LSU and wants to return the program to its glory days when "there were lines around the building and those were days before a game."
