NEWARK, NEW JERSEY- A city judge who was told by the New Jersey State Supreme Court he can't be a stand-up comedian while he sits on the bench turned in his robe and resigned.
Vince Sicardi was told his acting and comedy career "is incompatible" with judicial conduct codes. He uses the stage name Vincent August and has appeared on network TV shows and performed in New York City comedy clubs.
The court says his comedy act demeans some people based on religion or national origin and that could cause some to question his impartiality as a judge.
