Jindal's budget chief to step down
Gov. Bobby Jindal's top budget adviser, Angele Davis, is leaving her job as commissioner of administration.
Kyle Plotkin, a spokesman for the governor, says Davis submitted her resignation letter Thursday. Davis will step down in August from the position that is among the most powerful in Louisiana
Plotkin says she will be replaced by Paul Rainwater, the governor's deputy chief of staff.
As commissioner of administration, Davis is in charge of overseeing the financial operations of day-to-day state government and devising Jindal's budget recommendations to lawmakers. She's been the chief architect of several rounds of budget cuts.
Davis will leave as the state's budget picture continues to worsen and the governor and lawmakers are bracing for further deficits and far deeper cuts to state services and agencies.
She's been in the job since Jindal took office in 2008.
