Jindal signs extradition warrant for Bourbon St. suspect
BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal signed a warrant Friday to begin the extradition process for Bourbon Street shooting suspect Trung Le, according to the governor's office.
Le, 20, was arrested in Mississippi on the afternoon of July 4. He's accused of firing into a New Orleans crowd, injuring nine and killing a 21-year-old student from Hammond.
Le was booked on one count of first-degree murder and nine counts of first-degree attempted murder, but fought extradition last week.
With Jindal's signature, the warrant proceeds to Gov. Phil Bryant's desk in Mississippi where his signature will bring Le one step closer to extradition.
