Jindal sets date for Port Allen recall election
PORT ALLEN - Governor Bobby Jindal set a Nov. 16 date today for the recall election involving Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter.
Jindal noted in his proclamation that the Attorney General found the recall petition did meet state requirements, with more than one-third of Port Allen voters signing it.
Slaughter has been the focus of a number of investigations by News 2 into questionable practices while in office. She's also dealing with continued court issues involving the city's chief financial officer, Audrey McCain, whom Slaughter tried to fire after McCain released public financial records to News 2 detailing the mayor's request for taxpayers to cover at trip to Washington D.C.
News 2 will have reaction to the recall election's announcement tonight.
