BATON ROUGE - Gov. Bobby Jindal held a Unified Command Group meeting with state agency leaders and emergency response officials Friday to assess current and future response efforts to flooding of the Mississippi River and Atchafalaya River.

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards and his incoming team were present at the meeting to ensure his administration is up-to-date on the latest information as Edwards prepares to take office next week.

Heavy rainfall amounts over the past 30 days have led to concern in the state about rising water levels. Some regions could see potential flooding in the weeks to come. During the meeting, Gov. Jindal brought cabinet officials and emergency response personnel up to speed on preparation efforts. He also stressed the need for state residents to have a game plan in place for their families and property should water levels continue to rise.

“As always, the safety and security of Louisianians and their property is our number one priority, and we’re doing all that we can to assist regions across the state that may be affected by this situation. Please make sure you and your families are aware of any potential flooding in your area and are taking the proper measures to ensure your safety over the next several weeks.” said Jindal.
