Gov. Bobby Jindal said Wednesday that amendments will be made to the projected budget in order to overcome the latest deficit.

Jindal addressed the issue during a press conference at the Capitol.

Louisiana has a $319 million budget deficit this year, a state income forecasting panel estimated Wednesday. There are 10 weeks left in the budget year.

Jindal said some state agencies and departments have already made moves that help, but more plans are needed. He said he wants information from legislative leaders before making the next move.

Once meetings are held with those leaders this week, Jindal said a plan to overcome the latest mid-year deficit will be released.
