"Jihad Jane" prison time
PHILADELPHIA- The woman known as "Jihad Jane" was sentenced to ten years in prison for a terror plot aimed at a cartoonist who offended Muslims.
Colleen LaRose could have gotten a life sentence but the judge accepted a government request to reduce the term because of Larose's extensive cooperation with investigators.
She called herself "Jihad Jane" on the internet and told the judge she was obsessed with Jihad, saying she was "in a trance" and thought about it morning and night.
Both her lawyers and prosecutors agreed she was lonely and isolated and had endured harsh abuse througout life but disagree on how much of a threat she was.
Prosecutors had asked for decades in prison saying she was dangerous. She's already served four years.
