Jennings named SEC football Freshman of the Week
BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference named LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings their football Co-Freshman of the Week today for his performance in the Tigers' win over Arkansas.
Jennings came into the game in the fourth quarter to relieve Zach Mettenberger, who was injured in the final minutes of the game. Jennings led the Tigers on a 99-yard drive that scored the winning touchdown, and brought the Golden Boot back to Baton Rouge.
The true freshman played eight games in 2013, but Friday was his most significant action. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 76 yards including a 49-yard touchdown pass to Travin Dural with 75 seconds to play. He also rushed three times for 26 yards, including a 21-yard run that set up the touchdown pass.
