Jeffery Lee Guillory is asking for a new trial following his conviction on charges of attempted
second-degree murder and second-degree robbery.

Guillory was convicted Friday in the December 2007 attack on a Lafayette woman.

He has been in jail since his January 2008 arrest in Baton Rouge on warrants out of Lafayette.

Guillory is accused in the slayings of three women in Baton Rouge between 1999 and 2002.

Guillory is set to be sentenced Monday on the Lafayette charges.

In court records filed Wednesday, Guillory's attorney argues that DNA evidence used in the case should be excluded because the DNA report was not admitted into evidence and the live testimony of a DNA expert did not establish the chain of custody that led to the test results.
