The Jefferson Parish Council has voted to ban games, such as teens playing basketball on streets or sidewalks, if authorities rule them as a safety hazard or a nuisance.
Council members say the ordinance allows Sheriff's deputies to help end games where players and spectators take up an entire street and hamper traffic.
Deputy Parish Attorney Louis Gruntz said violators face a $500 fine and six months in jail.
