BATON ROUGE - Homecoming Week festivities have already been a success on LSU’s campus this week and there is more fun to be had as the weekend commences.

Friday

Homecoming Concert on Parade Ground (8 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

Tonight’s LSU Homecoming Concert has become an Tiger tradition over the years that draws students to the Parade Ground for an unparalleled musical celebration that really gets the weekend of events underway. This year’s concert features Tinashe with an opening by PJ and student opening acts by Seanil Reed, Sydney Kennerson and Cypress Wyman, according to the Student Activities Board. Artists selected for the event in the past have always been known to bring family-friendly content to the Parade Ground to provide a positive start to Homecoming weekend. The concert is free and open to the public and runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday.

Saturday

CANapalooza at the Parade Ground (All-Day)

An all-day event at the Parade Ground to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, members of the LSU and Baton Rouge community will contribute canned goods that will be used to build Tiger Stadium in miniature, complete with a replica of Mike the Tiger’s Habitat. LSU Campus Life says the 2013 rendition of the event resulted in the donation of 21,372 pounds of food to go to families in need. Donations and structure viewing will be open all day. Learn more about the food bank at brfoodbank.org.

Homecoming Parade (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

Tiger pride will be abundant during the 2015 Homecoming Parade that winds its way through campus and the surrounding areas for roughly an hour starting at 11 a.m. The parade will run along West Lakeshore Drive, South Stadium Drive, Fieldhouse Drive and Dalrymple Drive. LSU Campus Life says National Champion Men’s Golf Coach Chuck Winstead will serve as this year’s parade Grand Marshall along with Assistant Coach Garrett Runion and the entire men’s golf team. The map below, courtesy of LSU Campus Life, details the route:

Homecoming Tailgate at the Parade Ground (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.)

With the parade marking the official kickoff to gameday festivities ahead the Tigers taking on Western Kentucky, it’s time for LSU students to get their tailgate on. All LSU students are invited to turn out in their purple and gold for free tailgating food, activities and music provided by the Homecoming Student Committee. The tailgate kicks off with Student Government’s Battle of the Bands featuring musical groups consisting of student, faculty and staff. Local band, U4ria, will take to the stage to close out the event as game time grows closer. Students will need to show their Tiger Card LSU ID for the free tailgating food and to access the zip line rides which will be installed over the Parade Ground.

Homecoming King & Queen Announced @ LSU Tiger Stadium (7 p.m.)

The annual tradition of LSU Homecoming Court continues this year as the university recognizes members of the student body that excel in all of the areas that make a great Tiger student and member of the community. The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime during the LSU vs. Western Kentucky game on Saturday. The court is selected via a multi-stage process that includes judging panel application review, an interview phase and a vote by the LSU student body, according to LSU Campus Life.

Of course, the most exciting moments of Homecoming Weekend at LSU will always take place within the confines of Tiger Stadium. Kickoff time for LSU vs. Western Kentucky is at 6 p.m. with the game broadcast on ESPNU. For ticket info, click here.
