Lt. Don Kelly with Baton Rouge Police said they were told someone, later identified as Jefferson, tried to force their way past a security gate and into the complex. They were told he went into Mathieu's apartment, who answered the door when officers knocked.
Kelly said the officers immediately noticed an odor of marijuana, and got permission from Mathieu to search the apartment.
