Jaguars fall hard in season opener, 62-13
Houston, TX- The 2013 campaign for the Southern Jaguars did not get off to a good start. Southern made the trip to Houston for the season opener and found a Cougar team that was ready to play. The final score, 62-13.
Southern didn't look bad early, trailing just 13-6 after a Dray Joseph to Samuel Altman touchdown strike in the second quarter. But, the Jaguar defense was not at its best. The unit had a tough time stopping Houston running back Ryan Jackson. The sophmore rushed for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns.
In all, the Jaguar defense gave up 627 yards to the Cougars. Turnovers also hurt the Jags, they gave the ball up 4 times. Southern returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Northwestern State.
