BATON ROUGE - The Southern Jaguars will hit the road for the first two weeks of their 2016 campaign with their opener taking place at UL-Monroe this weekend.

The Sept. 3 opener between the Jags and Warhawks will mark the first time the teams have ever met. It’s the fourth year in a row that Southern has kick off their season again an FBS opponent. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday.

SUBR Head Coach Dawson Odums has said his team spent plenty of time focusing on speed and conditioning ahead of the clash with an unknown opponent with a new coach at the helm.

In Week 2 action, SUBR will make their Yulman Stadium debut as they take on Tulane in New Orleans. They haven’t played each other since 2002.
