Jags prepare for tough SWAC contest

Southern is looking to right the ship Saturday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Jags are coming off a disappointing 16-14 loss to Prairie View that knocked them out of a potential trip to Birmingham. It will be role reversal Saturday as the Southern enters the matchup at the bottom of the SWAC West division while Pine Bluff sits just behind Prairie View at the top. Coach Richardson said in his weekly press luncheon that there are a few things that are key for the Jags to pick up their second SWAC victory.  Southern needs to eliminate penalties. The Jags have committed 47 penalties that have cost them 442 yards this season, putting them at fourth worst in the league.   Secondly the Jags must stop the Golden Lions rushing attack. Dhabion Woodfin and Mickey Dean both pose problems. Woodfin is coming off a nearly 100 yard rushing performance against Edward Water College last week. The Jags also must keep their offense rolling. After starting off the season leading the conference in every offensive category, the Jags have struggled to capitalize in the past two SWAC games, only scoring 22 against Jackson State and 16 against Prairie View.  Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in Golden Lion Stadium.
