LAPLACE- Cleanup continues in St. John Parish more than a week after Hurricane Isaac sent flood water into several neighborhoods near Lake Pontchartrain.
Residents whose property took on several feet of water are just beginning to deal with the damage caused by the flooding.
"It was like the floodgates opened, with water just pouring through, the water came up so fast, it was like looking at white caps coming off the lake coming through the neighborhood that fast," said Ron Ferraro, who's home took on more than two feet of water.
Ferraro spent the day with his family cleaning out the wreckage, but he still finds it hard to reconcile with his own emotions.
"We haven't had the time to process what happened to us, because we've been so busy trying to save things, we haven't had the time to grieve about the losses," said Ferraro.
FEMA is providing assistance to some residence in need of housing.
