Dozens of Iraqi sailors are in Louisiana training on patrol boats built in Morgan City, but they’re learning more than just sailing.
The Iraqi government purchased 15 patrol boats that will be built at Swiftships Shipyard in Morgan City. At least five groups of Iraqi sailors will spend 90 days training at the shipyard. Once training is complete, the sailors will use their new ships to patrol the Iraqi coastline in the Persian Gulf.
News 2’s Rob Krieger joined the sailors and got answers on what it takes to operate the new Iraqi patrol boats.
