Investigation leads to Gonzales drug bust
GONZALES - Detectives from Ascension Parish and the Gonzales Police Department said they seized large quantities of drugs and arrested a suspected dealer following an investigation on Wednesday.
Shandolan Carey, 36, of Gonzales is being charged with possession with intent to distribute several narcotics including cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription pills, according to authorities.
Detectives said they seized a large number of prescription pills, a half pound of marijuana, several grams of cocaine and heroin, synthetic marijuana, a digital scales, and over $6,000 in cash during their search of the residence.
Carey's child was removed the house during the search and placed under the care of a family member, according to authorities.
Detectives said she faces an additional charge for having controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a minor.
Carey was transported to Ascension Parish Jail and booked.
