I-12 lanes to close early Thursday, Friday morning
Eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 12 will close for 30-minute intervals between Range Avenue and O’Neal Lane early Thursday and Friday morning.
The Department of Transportation and Development said the closures will also cause the eastbound I-12 on-ramp at O’Neal and the westbound I-12 on-ramp at Range to close. The closures will happen between midnight and 4 a.m. on Thursday and Friday. They are necessary for Entergy to relocate power lines that stretch across I-12.
Motorists traveling eastbound on I-12 can exit O’Neal and travel north to Florida Boulevard. They can turn right on Florida and travel east to Range. They can then turn right on Range and re-enter I-12 eastbound from there.
Motorists traveling westbound on I-12 can exit Juban Road or Range and travel north to Florida. They can turn left on Florida, and travel west to O’Neal. They can then turn left on O’Neal and re-enter I-12 from there.
The Louisiana DOTD Geaux Wider program is a multi-year construction initiative designed to increase capacity, improve safety and enhance mobility on Interstates 10 and 12 in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes.
The following interstate segments will be widened to six lanes under the Geaux Wider program:

- Interstate 10, from the Siegen Lane interchange to Highland Road
- Interstate 12, from the O'Neal Lane interchange to Pete's Highway
- Interstate 12 eastbound, from Pete's Highway to Juban Road
Construction is underway with the completion date for the entire program estimated for late 2012.
