BATON ROUGE – LSU athletic director Joe Alleva officially introduced Ed Orgeron as the interim head coach of The Tigers at a Monday afternoon press conference.

Orgeron started by saying that he was honored that Alleva chose him as interim coach after the firing of Les Miles. He said that the decision was "all about the players."

Orgeron asked fans to come out to Saturday's game against the Missouri Tigers to show the players support because "they deserve the success and energy the fans bring them." He went on to announce several new coaching changes and appointments, including long-time collegiate defensive line coach Pete Jenkins. Orgeron said that the team "went crazy" when they heard the news about Jenkins' return.

"He will be my mentor and right-hand man," Orgeron said.

Orgeron also announced that Steve Ensminger will replace Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator and will also serve as the quarterback coach. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was announced at the associate head coach. While wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig was shuffled to the tight ends coach.

Orgeron said that change will be the theme as he steps up to the role of interim coach reiterating that the style of play would be different, have "freshness" and "energy."

"We want to put the ball in our play makers' hands," Orgeron said.

When asked about the weakness that he would be focusing on, Orgeron said that he does not want to talk about the past, rather move forward citing that the team is composed of a "great group of young men" that need to "feel better about the hard work they are putting in."

Orgeron said that when the team heard about the news they were "sad to see him go" but were happy to see "a familiar face."

He stated that moving forward the focus will "never be about our opponent, it will be about the LSU Tigers. Always."

Orgeron also added that he will begin to hold open practices to the media on certain days and times and will have more information on those in the coming days.
