Infant, driver only survivors in deadly wreck
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies said three people died in a head-on collision today in East Baton Rouge Parish, and an infant was the only survivor in their vehicle.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Casey Hicks said the crash claimed the lives of 33-year-old Tara Nicole Hicks of Clinton, 26-year-old Latosha Head of Zachary, and 30-year-old Daniel Jones.
Investigators said their vehicle, which was driven by Tara Hicks, was driving on Joor Road just before noon when it crossed the center line and hit an oncoming pickup. Hicks and Head were pronounced dead at the scene, while Jones died from his injuries after being taken to a local hospital.
They said the infant was taken to the hospital as well, but expected to survive. Hicks and Jones were the child's parents.
Deputies said the pickup's driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies are still investigating the crash.
