Indictments for group connected to Hundred Oaks raid
BATON ROUGE- A grand jury indicted five people on racketeering, drugs and weapon charges Wednesday.
Christopher Varnado, Ronza Robertson, Marlene Varnado, Kenneth Robertson, and Dearcy Robertson were named on the indictment. Varnado is the alleged ringleader, authorities have said. They believe Dearcy Robertson was also involved in organizing the operation.
For a month, investigators performed wiretaps and surveillance operations that eventually culminated with an elaborate raid in a quiet Baton Rouge neighborhood this summer.
A group of law enforcement officials, including the FBI, took part in the bust on Ovid Street in June.
According to agents involved, the group sold heroin from a store and several homes in the area. At the house on Ovid Street, $6,000 worth of the drug was confiscated.
A generic oxicodone was also found during the investigation.
The group is described as mid to high level dealers. At a news conference after the arrests, authorities said they were identifying customers and more arrests were expected.
