BATON ROUGE - Besides WBRZ's "Fireworks on the Mississippi", there are a number of Independence Day events taking place on or around July 4 in the Baton Rouge area.

July 4

East Baton Rouge Parish

BASF Freedom Mile - 8 a.m. mile-long race through downtown Baton Rouge, starting at the USS Kidd

USS Kidd's Freedom Festival - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., patriotic music and activities, flag ceremony at noon

Star Spangled 4th of July Celebration - 6 p.m., Riverfront Plaza, live music before Fireworks on the Mississippi

LSU Museum of Art / Tsunami fireworks viewing - Fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with live music, BBQ and drinks before fireworks at 9 p.m.

L'Auberge Casino - Adults only from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Live music begins at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks

West Baton Rouge Parish

Port Allen Independence Day - 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the levee, activities for kids, food vendors, live and local bands

Livingston Parish

Red, White, and Blue Day - All day at Sidney Hutchinson Memorial Park in Walker, with food, live music, and fireworks

Iberia Parish

Fourth of July Parade - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at New Iberia's Main Street

East Feliciana Parish

Red, White, and Blue Festival - July 4-5, north of Clinton, on Liberty Highway at the American Legion Park

Pecan Ridge Bluegrass Festival - July 4-6 in Jackson, 4225 Hwy 952, camp and jam festival

Tangipahoa Parish

Celebration America - 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hammond, on 214 W. Thomas Street

Pointe Coupee Parish

Old River Landing Fireworks - 9 p.m. in Batchelor, La.

July 5

Pointe Coupee Parish

False River Boat Parade - 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Parkway

St. Mary Parish

Rock the 5th - 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Morgan City's Lawrence Park and the Riverfront, with food, music, and fireworks over the Atchafalaya River
